The breakout area is an opportunity to introduce a little more creativity and whimsy into your office, being as it is primarily a place for your staff to relax and unwind and to interact with other members of staff in a less formal setting. Frequently however, breakout areas act as alternatives to more traditional meeting rooms and therefore access to your company’s network should be bourne in mind with seating and/or floor boxes positioned to allow for the flexible use of the space, i.e. for ad hoc meetings.

Breakout areas frequently act as an extension to tea points giving staff a comfortable place to catch up with colleagues. Being as it is, frequently the social hub for your offices, it is advisable to position it in such a location that inter-departmental mingling is naturally encouraged.
